Providing HOPE When Home is Far Away

Having cancer is hard. Having to travel out of town for treatment can make it even harder.  That’s why the American Cancer Society Hope Lodges are there – to provide you and your caregiver a free home away from home, for as long as you need, when your best chance of survival is too far away.

One of our recent guests was the American Cancer Society’s very own Jeanne Walsh, who stayed at the HopeLodge in Boston.

Check out the video Jeanne took of her room. A room that was home to her for 9 months as she received a very intense treatment offered in just a handful of locations across the country – none of which included Albany, NY.

Our 32 Hope Lodges are located by the biggest cancer hospitals and are much more than a hotel – they have extra amenities like a kitchen and family room to make you feel at home and an indescribable support system made up of others who understand what it’s like to hear the words “you have cancer.”

Patients from across the world utilize our Hope Lodges which is why they are almost always at full capacity.  That’s when our Hotel Partners step in – over 2,000 hotels across the country reserve space to be used in these circumstances. These rooms can be booked at free or reduced rate based on their availability.
