On behalf of our Capital Region ACS Staff Team, we can’t thank this community enough for coming out for the 26th Annual #MakingStridesAgainstBreastCancer walk! Many more pink pictures and updates to come but until then, just know how much we appreciate each and every one of you 💕
This racial disparity is largely due to Black women having more advanced staged breast cancer at the time of diagnosis, higher rates of obesity and other health conditions, and certain types of breast cancers that have a less favorable prognosis. These disparities are largely grounded in historical and persistent racism in the U.S., preventing Black women from accessing high-quality cancer treatment and staying on track with treatment compared with white women.
